Founded in 1985, the Society is affiliated with
the Blount County Public Library The Society cannot do genealogical research for individuals, either members or non-members. However, volunteers will spend up to half an hour searching INDEXED sources for one surname. THERE IS A MINIMUM FEE OF $10 FOR EACH INQUIRY. This fee will provide up to 10 photocopies. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with each request.
Members receive The Blount Journal, a magazine issued in the spring and in the fall. Persons joining at any time within the calendar year receive both issues for that year. Members are entitled to one free query per issue (additional queries may be published if space permits). The queries should be received by February 25 for the spring issue and July 25 for the fall issue. Names of members, with addresses and surnames being researched, are published. Use our Application for Membership (below) to send a check and query, if any. Requests for information MUST include self-addressed, stamped return envelope.
