Jazz Coffee House (April 15th) @ 7:00PM

NEEDED: Desserts and help with set-up for the Jazz Coffee House.  More information about this later

 

 

Concert Band will travel to Festival at Farragut HS on Thursday, March 13.   They are scheduled to perform at 3:45.  Parents are welcome to attend.
 
ADDITIONAL SYMPHONIC BAND REHEARSAL on TUESDAY, APRIL 1 from 4-6PM in final preparation for Festival.
 
Symphonic Band will travel to Festival on FRIDAY, April 4th, in Greeneville.  Be on the look out for a permission slip.
 
Symphonic Band travels to State Concert Festival at MTSU on Friday, April 25th.
 
Pops Concert is Thursday, May 1, 7:00pm.
 
Symphonic Band and select members of Concert Band will be performing at the

CHS Commencement Ceremony on FRIDAY, May 16.  Details will be forthcoming.

The 2007 CHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble received outstanding honors for their performances last year.  At the end of the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Jackson submitted recordings of the bands to be critiqued and to be considered for the National Wind Band Honors organization.

 

Out of the 81 entries from 17 states, Central Symphonic was awarded National Honor Band in Class 4A and the Wind Ensemble was recognized in the New Music Division as a National Honor Band.

The wind ensemble was also given Commended Status for their work.

 

Central High School was the ONLY school to have 2 groups recognized in this prestigious event. 2007 graduates Victoria Madison, horn, and Jacob See, tuba, were recognized for outstanding solos. The Symphonic Band trombone section was also recognized for their outstanding work

on the Chance, Sym. No. 2. 

 

 

CONCERT BAND - a credited class that helps students hone their musical skills; rehearses during the school day and after school as scheduled by the director.

SYMPHONIC BAND - a credited class for the top musicians in the band program; rehearses during the school day and after school as scheduled by the director.

 

 

Performance at the Tennessee Theatre - May 2006

 

 

WIND ENSEMBLE - a small group of the top musicians formed from the Symphonic Band and features one instrument per part.

JAZZ BAND - rehearses after school one day a week learning jazz charts that they perform on concerts.

WINTER GUARD - an indoor color guard that rehearses after school two days a week and competes on Saturdays.

INDOOR DRUMLINE - rehearses two days a week and competes on Saturdays.

 

 

CHAMBER GROUPS - small ensembles that rehearse after school and perform at concerts and special events.

Private Lesson Program - if a student is interested, discounted private lessons may be offered and is possible due to the financial assistance of the Bobcat Band Boosters.  Please contact the band office for more information (689-1423).  All lessons are taught at Central High School.
