Joshua Jackson is a 1994 graduate of Middlesboro High School in Middlesboro, Kentucky where he played trombone in marching band, bassoon in concert band, and served as Drum Major for the Middlesboro High School, Pride of the Cumberland's Marching band for three years. He completed his Bachelor of Music Composition degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1998. Mr. Jackson played bassoon in the UT-K wind ensemble and civic orchestras, as well as clarinet in the UT-K Symphonic band during his 4 years with the University of Tennessee.  After completing his bachelor's, Mr. Jackson pursued a Masters in Music Education from the University of Kentucky and completed the degree in the Spring of 2000. While at UK, he served the UK band program as a bassoonist in the UK Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, clarinetist in the UK Symphonic Band, as well as coordinator for the UK Marching Band Color Guard.


Mr. Jackson started his teaching career with Fayette County public schools, where he served as the Assistant Director of the Henry Clay Band Program in Lexington, KY. In 2001, Mr. Jackson accepted the Interim Head Director position at Henry Clay High School were his bands received consistent superior ratings. In 2003, Mr. Jackson accepted a teaching position at East Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, KY, where he coordinated all aspects of the band program, as well as teaching classes in the Humanities. He also serves as the founder and director of X Performance Ensemble, an Independent A Class Winter Guard. He has instructed, arranged, and designed for marching band programs across the eastern United States.


Mr. Jackson was a prize winner in a band composition contest sponsored by the Virginia College Band Directors Association. He was a guest at their annual conference in February 2005, where his work was performed by the Virginia Inter-Collegiate Band.
