May 8, 2006
Central High School's Symphonic Band was invited to share in a concert with the
newly formed Knoxville Wind Symphony. This professional wind ensemble is comprised of
Knoxville Symphony Orchestra musicians, as well as professional musicians from the East Tennessee area.
The concert was held at the recently renovated and historic Tennessee Theatre.
This was tremendous honor for these students and truly
shows the level of musicianship they have attained in recent years.
Their program included Symphony in B-flat ~ Paul Hindemith, Salvation is Created ~ Pavel Tchesnokov,
The Earle of Oxford's March ~ Gordon Jacob, and Rocky Point Holiday ~ Ron Nelson.
At the conclusion of their performance, the CHS Symphonic Band received a standing ovation from the audience.
The members of the CHS Symphonic Band, Mr. Jackson, and the students parent's wish to thank
Dr. Marshall Forrester, Music Director and Conductor, and Mr. Rob Clark, Operations Manager,
of the Knoxville Wind Symphony
for the opportunity and honor to perform with outstanding musicians.
