Order forms for DVDs of the exhibition will be available from Mr. Jackson when students return from Fall Break. Please ask your child to pick one up from the band office.

The previously scheduled Nov. 6 Symphonic Band concert will now be held November 11 due to a scheduling conflict with the CHS chorus.

PLEASE, pay your fees! We still have students who have not paid fees, paid for guard shoes, etc.

We have a private lesson sign up sheet in the band room for students interested in taking private lessons. After fall break, lessons will happen weekly through the end of the semester. The cost to you is $5 per week. We are very fortunate that our Bobcat Band Boosters pays the rest of the bill for our private instructors. This is the perfect opportunity for your child to work ONE on ONE with a specialist on their instrument to get even better than they are.  Traditionally, CHS has between 30-40 students who participate in our private lesson program. Students who have participated in the program go on to make Junior Clinic, All East Senior Clinic, All State, and even have earned college scholarships on their instruments. Please take advantage of this opportunity.

Students in the 9th grade auditioning for East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (ETSBOA) Junior Clinic need to bring in $6 to Mr. Jackson by October 27th. It is our expectation that with such a strong 9th grade class, numerous children will audition. Central and Gresham usually do well at these events and let's keep the tradition going. This year marks the FIRST year of the addition of a 9th grade ONLY Junior Clinic Band. 9th graders will be auditioning for spots in the 9th grade Honor Band and are not eligible for any other band. Any student auditioning receives extra credit added as a TEST grade of 100 to their band average. Any student who is selected for the clinic ALSO receives additional extra credit.

From Band Booster President Jeff Heatherly:

I have sent Mr. Jackson a menu from Chick-Fil-A for band members who wants to order a meal before each game.  The forms are available on the back of Mr. Jackson's door.  Be sure they turn it in with their name on it as well as the money ($5.00).  To keep Mr. Jackson from having to deal with the money in any way, I am asking parents and band members to bring their money with them to the Thursday rehearsal.  They can turn it in to me at the end of rehearsal. The meals will be delivered to the band room at 4:00.m. on Friday. There is no drink with the meal.  Please make sure you send a drink or money to use in a drink machine with your band member Friday.  If anyone has any questions please call me (689-6760 or email j_heatherly@knology.net).

Along with performing at football games and Area Festivals, the important events we have participated in over the last few years are:

2006 TMEA CONFERENCE HALL OF FAME BAND
2006 SOUTHERN DIVISION CBDNA/NBA CONFERENCE
2007 NATIONAL HONOR BAND for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band
