Winter meeting, March 11th, 2003, at 7:00 PM at the home of David and Deborah Mann on Rolling Creek. The agenda will include a discussion from social committee for upcoming events, and getting a nominatiting committee together. We also have two gentlemen that would like to speak to the homeowners. One is Richard Huntley regarding widening of Smith Road. The other is Brian Farmer, who is running for a Farragut Alderman position. He would like 10 minutes of our time to discuss his platform.
Out to Lunch Bunch - Ongoing... (ladies only I am told...) get together for the Hickory Woods out to lunch bunch. They meet at a local restaurant and talk about uninteresting things...(or are they, he asks...)
Easter Egg Hunt -- at Ann Durall's home on Valley trail. This is for the kids only, but adults can watch. Ann will provide coffee and cookies and John will take pictures and post them on the web. The important thing is that this event begins on time! It starts exactly at 10:00 AM according to the national bureau of standards (OK NIST) clock in Boulder Colorado. (Our time, not Colorado time. We just use that standard clock to begin this event!) The date is Saturday, before Easter. Bring your kids and have fun for an hour or so on Saturday morning.
Garage Sale -- Date to be determined in 2003, usually in May. Get your old stuff ready to sell or give away. Now is the time to sell your treasures to your neighbors. Then give away to charity what no one will buy. Call the Social Committee for more information. Sale always starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 1:00 PM. Leave good usable but unsold items for curb pickup by Vietnam Vets. Use baloons to mark you mailbox. We will advertise the garage sale in the newspaper so there will be lots of traffic.
Spring Meeting is scheduled for ________ 2003. This is the Spring Meeting as required by the Hickory Woods By-Laws.
It’s that time of year where we come together to vote in our new officers for the 2003/ 2004 year. We would like to send a special invitation out to the homeowners who haven’t been to our meetings in a while. This is the best time to share your concerns or ideas with the association and to meet some of the new homeowners who have moved into the area in the past year. It would be great if you could join us for a night of discussion and snacks. Time, date and location to be announced.
Sparkle Day [ This is last years notice... ]is on the first saturday in June. This is the garden club contest for front yards in the neighborhood and the spring picnic to end all picnics. This years Sparkle Day is going to be the best ever. Spruce that yard up, cut back those shrubs, and trim those hedges! Don’t forget to plant some flowers too. Lawn judging begins at 1:00 PM. The picnic begins at 5:00 pm. Everyone is asked to bring a side item. We encourage everyone to enter their favorite dessert. That, of course, includes all our gentlemen chefs. After the judging, the desserts can be enjoyed by all.
For the kids, we will have cotton candy, waterguns, sprinklers, water balloons, a fun walk and the moon walk. Things could get interesting later with some friendly games of bingo for the adults. There will be plenty of opportunities to win prizes this year, all with a summer time theme. It promises to be a great time for the entire family, so don’t miss out on the fun! Remember, it all gets started at 5:00 pm in the first cul-de-sac at the end of Hickory Woods Road. We hope to see everyone there and don’t forget to bring your chairs!
Questions? Call Melissa or Gloria

Luanne's Plant Walk -- To be scheduled ___________________.
This exchange of plants and cuttings in the fall is in honor of Luanne Hurst, a long time active member of Hickory Woods Homeowners who passed away in November, 2002. She suggested this event, and it is now an annual event in her honor. This is a good time to give away some saved seeds, lift some bulbs or corms to trade, or to get cuttings that can root over the winter and be ready to sprout and bloom in the spring. Everyone in the neighborhood can participate by putting plant materials in the driveway to be traded. Items should be identified as carefully as possible and wrapped in clean materials. Try to not give diseased plants away. The social committee will schedule this later in the year when it is appropriate. Look for the date here.
Fall Meeting -- To be scheduled.
