Introduction

1.   John 14:1-6 – A prepared place for a prepared people.

2.   What will this place be like?

 

I.    Heaven is described in terms that relate to human experience.

A.  An astronaut can describe the moon only in terms relating to the earth – our field of his experience.

B.            Likewise, God illustrates Heaven in earthly terms – terms of man’s experience.

 

II.  Various descriptions

A.  A city (Rev. 21:9-22:5)

B.   A country (Heb. 11:8-16)

C.  A place of rest (Heb. 4:1)

D.  A home

1.      John 14:1-6, a prepared home – prepared by God Himself

2.   II Cor. 5:1, a new home for the soul in an incorruptible body.

3.            Rev. 19:9, a Home where one will enjoy fellowship with god

4.            Matt. 8:11-12, fellowship with the redeemed

5.            Rev. 22:3-5, God’s care and concern for His household

E.   A New Heaven and New Earth

1.   II Peter 3:8-13 this present world and the heavens  will be destroyed.

2.      Revelation 21:1, the old will give way to the new (Isa. 65:17; 66:22)

3.      Man will be restored to his state before sin ( Gen 3:1-19; Rev. 21:1-7).

a.            He will be at harmony with self

b.         He will be at harmony with others

c.         He will be at harmony with nature

d.         He will be at harmony with God

 

Conclusion

1.   I Thessalonians 4:13-18, the Lord will come for the faithful one day.

2.   John 14:3, we will go to a place prepared by Jesus Himself.
