Apr 1, 2001 AM

Introduction

1.      When I can to see-from men to Jesus.

2.   A caged lion is a lion, yet not (Luke 5:36-39; cf. Matt. 5:17-20)

When We Come to See Jesus, We see…

1.      Substance in simplicity

·      A manger (Luke 2:8-16)

·      No compelling outward attractiveness (Isaiah 53:2)

·      A Cross (Mark 15:21-25)

2.      Rock Solid Foundation Values

·      Mark 12:28-31

·      Matthew 7:12

·      John 13:34-35

·      Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42

3.   Life In A Context Supplied By God

·      Zeal (John 2:13-17)

·      Radical change (John 3:1-3)

·      Focus (John 4:31-34)

·      Agenda (John 5:43-44)

·      Exclusivity (John 6:66-68)

4.      Leadership of:

·      Service - Matthew 20: 25-27

·      Compassion - Matthew 9: 35-38

·      Condemnation - Matthew 23:1-39

·      Principle - Mark 12:14

5.      Longsuffering Yet Uncompromising

·      Rest - Matthew 11:28-30

·      Challenge - Matthew 10:34-39

Conclusion

1.      Jesus’ identity must be accepted fully.

2.      Otherwise we cannot follow him.

3.   All human cages will prove inadequate for holding Christ.
