NEEDFUL THINGS
Luke 10:38-42

INTRODUCTION
We sometimes become confused about what
things are truly needful.
In this confusion, we can easily find
ourselves caught up in less than needful things.
You have no doubt heard of the K.I.S.S.
method.
The Christian version of this is shorter
and sweeter, Keep It Simple.
You also undoubtedly remember the
economic emphasis of the Clinton campaign, Its the economy ------.
The spiritual emphasis of Christianity
changes this to, Its the Christ, brethren. to understand (II Pet. 3:14-16).
Some things will even be beyond our
ability to totally understand (Isa. 55:8-9).
However, the basics, the most
fundamentally Needful things,
these are rather easy for all to grasp (Matt. 11:28-30).
Love for
the Christ
John 14:15, 21, 23
There must be a motivation of sufficient
strength to overcome all rivals to Jesus.
Merely accepting the identity of Jesus is
not enough (Jn. 12:42-43; cf. Acts 6:7).
The love of Christ must be the
controlling force in our lives (II Cor. 5:14-15).
To love the Christ is to obey the Christ
(I Jn. 5:3).
Commitment
To The Cause
Luke 9:23
If we have no intention of serving with a
profound personal commitment, we are wasting our time and the Lords.
Commitment to the agenda of Jesus is the only
way to be in the company of the Christ.
Self-denial makes room for Jesus to live
in our hearts and direct us in His ways (Gal. 2:20).
Evangelism, edification, and benevolence
will then, of necessity, surely follow.
FAITH
Matthew 21:18-22
Trust is HUGE in any successful
relationship with God (Heb. 11:6).
Similar to the apostolic stewardship Paul
was given, it is required of all stewards that they be found trustworthy (I
Cor. 4:1-2).
Trust gives us confidence that all will
be well no matter what is going on around us (Matt. 14:25-29).
A lack of trust causes us to be overcome
by our surroundings (Matt. 14:30-31).
CONCLUSION
LOVE JESUS!
BE COMMITTED TO HIS CAUSE!
TRUST JESUS!
