BEING A MAN
• There is much confusion in
our world about exactly what it means to be a man.
• We can learn the answer to
this question only by looking to Scripture.
I Corinthians 16:13
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be
strong.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous, do not be
afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you.
He will not fail or forsake you.
I Timothy 2:8
Therefore I want the men in every place to pray,
lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
Titus 2:2
Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in
faith, in love, in steadfastness.
Titus 2:6-8
…urge young men to be sensible;…an example of good
deeds,…pure in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech…
Ephesians 5:25-31
For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the
church and gave Himself up for her.
So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own
bodies.
I Timothy 5:8
But if any one does not provide for his own,
and especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith, and is
worse than an unbeliever.
I Peter 3:7
You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way
because, as a woman, she is physically weaker…”
…and grant her honor as a fellow-heir of the grace of life,
so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Ephesians 6:4
And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger;
but bring
them up in the discipline and instruction of the
Lord.
Ephesians 6:5-6
…be obedient…in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;
not…of eye service as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of
God from the heart.
• Being a man means more than
having simple male biology.
• Being a man involves courage, leadership, protection, and care.
• Being a man will insure that the home and the church thrive!
