BEING A LADY

I Timothy 2:9-15

Current cultural confusions have been particularly unkind to the image of womanhood.

As we look to the Bible we see a powerful picture of how beautiful God’s design is for a lady.

Proverbs 11:16a

   A gracious woman attains honor…

Genesis 24:10-27

And she said, “Drink my lord;”… “I will draw also for your camels…” “We have plenty of both straw and feed and room to lodge in.”

I Timothy 2:9-15

…I want women to adorn themselves in proper clothing, modestly and discreetly,…by means of good works as befits a woman making a claim to godliness.

Let a woman receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

But a woman shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Titus 2:3-4a

Older women…are to be reverent…not malicious gossipsteaching what is good,… encouraging the younger women

…young women… love their husbands, to love their children,…sensible, pure, workers at home, kind

Ephesians 5:22-24, 33

Wives be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. …so also wives ought to be subject to their husbands in everything.

And let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.

I Peter 3:3-4

And let not your adornment be external only, but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit which is precious to God.

Proverbs 31:10-31

The heart of her husband trusts her,…She works with her hands in delight. She gives food to her household.

She considers a field and buys it;…She stretches out her hand to the needy. She make linen garments and sells them,…the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also and he praises her saying: “Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Being a lady is more than mere than mere biology.

Being a lady involves graciousness, service to others, courage, industry, and kindness.

Being a lady will insure that the home and the church thrive!
