THE JUDGMENT DAY
Dec 31, 2000 AM
The Day of Judgment will be a day of
finality. On that day we will all stand before God (II Cor. 5:10; Heb. 12:23).
Whatever we have sown, that we will also reap (Gal. 6:7). When we come to the
end of life and stand before our Maker will we have cause to regret our
reckless decisions, or will we have reason to rejoice (adapted from an article
by Johnny Ramsey)?
A DAY OF RECKONING AND REST
1.
Reckoning (Rev. 20:11-15)?
a.
There are many powerful biblical images
of God bringing a day of reckoning (Dan. 5; Gen. 6-9; 19; Ex. 14; Isa. 36-37).
b.
“It is a terrifying thing to fall into
the hands of the living God” (Heb. 10:31; 12:26-29).
2.
Rest (Heb. 4:8-9; Matt. 11:28-30)?
a.
A place where all troubling things are
forever gone (Rev. 21:1-5).
b.
A new “house” for our spirit (II Cor.
5:1; I Cor. 15:50-58).
A DAY OF REUNION AND REVELATION
1.
Reunion (Jn. 14:1-3).
a.
The faithful throughout the ages will be
together (Matt. 8:11).
b.
We will be reunited with loved ones who
have died in the Lord (II Sam. 12:23; Heb. 12:22-24).
2.
Revelation (Rom. 2:16).
a.
The faithful will not have their sins
remembered (Heb. 8:12; Ps. 32:1; I Jn. 1:7).
b.
However, for the unfaithful, their sins
will be exposed (Matt. 7:21-23; 25:24-30, 41-46).
WE WILL NOT BE READY IF…
1.
We neglect the great salvation (Heb.
2:1-3; 3:12).
2.
We fail to glorify God (Rom. 1:18-23).
3.
We remain enamored by the world (I Jn.
2:15; Acts 5:1-11; Lk. 18:18-25).
4.
We do not have the spirit of Christ (Rom.
8:9; 29).
ON JUDGMENT DAY I WILL BE JUDGED…
1.
Impartially (Acts 10:34; Mk. 12:14; Rev.
20:12).
2.
Mercifully (II Pet. 3:9; Jas. 5:11).
3.
With justice (Ps. 89:14).
4.
By the word of Jesus (Jn. 12:48).
5.
As an individual (Rom. 14:11-12).
