legislative.jpg Registered Dietitians are involved in legislative issues regarding provision of medical nutrition therapy and protecting consumers at both the state and federal levels, including the diabetes education bill. Registered Dietitians are working with members of Congress to provide medical nutrition therapy as a health care option. To learn more about medical nutrition therapy and other legislative activities at the federal level, visit the American Dietetic Association website.

Tennessee has licensure to protect consumers. Licensed Dietitians/Nutritionists are licensed by the State of Tennessee. To determine if someone is a licensed dietitian/nutritionist, check with the Tennessee Department of Health.
