Program for 3/16/06, 7:30 pm
Our scheduled speaker for this month had to cancel due to work commitments. Travis has stepped up at the last minute to do a program on meteorites. I have been approached by a few club members who have volunteered to give presentations. If you are interested in giving a presentation later on in the year please let me know.Danny Griffin, VP

President’s Message
I've belonged to this club for such a long time. I am very proud of that membership.
But I do have a question. Our youth, where are they? Why do we not have more attending the meetings and when some do come once or twice, why don't they come back? What is missing that would make them want to come regularly? What is it that other clubs offer that we do not, that makes them have great youth attendance and participation? Come to the meeting and let's put our heads together and see if we can come up with some ideas that could help. Since we are tax exempt because of our education status, maybe we need to do more to keep it that way. We have an education chair, let's give him more to do than he can handle in the ways of reaching the youth. We have the funds to do great things.
See you there.

If you can’t make it to the field trip on Saturday...
The Valley and Ridge Gem and Mineral Show, sponsored by the Rome Georgia Mineral Society, will be held Friday-Sunday March 17-19 (10-6 Friday and Saturday, 1-5 on Sunday). A new locality will host this growing show:
Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. This outstanding facility will prove very easy to get to for the out of town visitor to Rome. Directions:
*If you are approaching Rome on US 411, the first light is the Bypass (Loop 1). Turn right, go about three miles to GA 293 (Kingston Rd.). Turn right, go 1/10 mile and the church will be on the right.
*From the north (Summerville, etc.) on US 27, turn left at the Bypass just past Berry College. Look for GA 293/ Kingston Rd, turn left then right at the church.
Now that was easy! For more information, call Jose Santamaria, Show Chair, at 706 233-9828.
