This trip is open to
ALL—you do not have
to be a member of KGEMS to attend!
Morefield Gem Mine
Surface working fee is $10.00. An
underground tour (no collecting) is an additional $20.00.
Meet at the mine at the time of your
choice. Travel time from Knoxville is approximately 6 1/2 hours.
The Roanoke and Lynchburg, VA clubs
will also be present—Travis was not able to secure a separate bucket of
“stuff” for us. Mine is not
open on Sunday. This is an interesting site whose future is uncertain
as to ownership and accessibility.
Travis suggests that anyone interested in the site make plans to visit
sometime this summer or fall -see mine's web site for schedule as they are
not open every day.

miles; Turn LEFT onto US-360 E / PATRICK HENRY HWY for 12.5 miles.
