"Excellence in the delivery of interpreting and transliterating
services is contingent upon the pursuit of lifelong learning."
(Motion 96.43)
RID's Certificate
Maintenance Program is designed to maintain the integrity
of interpreter certification by providing opportunities for
interpreters to pursue further education in the field. Certified
interpreters are required to earn 8.0 CEUs during each 4 year
CMP cycle after certification. Interpreters who are not yet
certified may use the Associate Continuing Education Tracking
program to track their own education year by year.
For a detailed description of how interpreters maintain their
certification, go to RID's CMP
page at their web site. These pages list cycle timelines,
the requirements of participation, the types of activities
that earn CEUs (continuing education units), and more.
There is also information at www.tnrid.org/cmp.html
to answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
TRANSCRIPTS
RID members can now at any time check their Certification
Maintenance Program transcript online. From RID's website
at www.rid.org, members can
check their courses taken, cycle end date, and CEUs accrued
to date. You need your RID member number and password to access
your record. Upon completion of an activity, it can take up
to 60 days for your CEUs to be recorded on your transcript.
If something is missing or incorrect, contact the sponsor
of the activity or your local sponsor.
