Officers
The Knoxville Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (KTRID) elects its officers every year in December.

President -- Kim Hinchey
picture of Kim HincheyKim Hinchey was Vice President of KTRID for 11 years and now serves as President. She worked at the Tennessee School for the Deaf for fifteen years as a Dorm Counselor, Assistant Supervisor, and finally Cottage Supervisor. She now works at the University of Tennessee as a Sign Language Interprer/Transcriber for the Office of Disabilities Services where she coordinates interpreters for theatrical productions there. Kim holds a Certificate of Transliteration and Certificate of Interpretation from RID and has presented at local, regional, and national conferences on musical interpreting. She has interpreted several Broadway productions here in the local area. She has been involved with InterAct Children's Theatre of the Deaf since it began as both a performer and a shadow interpreter. Kim enjoys being with her friends and family, especially her wonderful and talented children, Adam and Rachel.

Vice President -- Heather Webb
picture of Heather WebbHeather Webb has worked at the University of Tennessee since 1995 on several federally funded projects. These were primarily within the Center on Deafness and focused on deafness issues. She became interested in the field of interpreting and began taking classes to finish her Bachelor of Science in Education. Upon completion in December, 2003, she became a full-time staff Interpreter/Transcriber for the Office of Disability Services at UTK. In January 2005, she began managing the schedule for the Interpreters and Transcribers at UT as well as interpreting and transcribing several classes each semester.

Heather holds the Certificate of Interpretation from RID. She interprets for her church, Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Seymour, TN along with other agencies in the Knoxville area. Heather and her husband, Roger, enjoy playing with their dogs, Bear and Brea, and are expecting their first child in September 2007.


Secretary -- Ruann Wood
picture of Ruann WoodRuann Wood is an RID certified freelance interpreter and owner of Visual Communication Interpreting, an interpreter referral agency located in West Knoxville. She currently serves as the secretary for KTRID and has worked as the Support Staff Coordinator Assistant at the 2007 RID National Convention - San Francisco as well as a support staff member at the 2005 RID National Convention - San Antonio. Ruann is a graduate of the interpreter training program at Portland Community College, Portland, OR and transferred to Knoxville, TN in July 2006. She is the lead interpreter for Faith Promise Church, Knoxville, TN and does a variety of interpreting in faith-based settings such as the Women of Faith and at Joyce Meyer conferences. She is also the Girl Scout leader for TSD Troop 864 out of Tennessee School for the Deaf. When she’s not interpreting you will find Ruann in the woods hiking, in her back yard building fires for roasted marshmallows, or camping with her husband Greg and children Wesley, Austin, and Emily.

Treasurer -- Brenda Sellers
picture of Brenda SellersBrenda Sellers is a full time staff interpreter for Knoxville Center of the Deaf, Inc. and currently serves as KTRID's treasurer. As treasurer, Brenda is responsible for coordinating the membership program. Brenda is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and moved to Knoxville in January 2006. She served on the board for Kentucky's Affiliate chapter of RID first as a student representative and then as newsletter editor of the Connector for several years. Brenda enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her husband, Nelson, and Stampin' Up!
