Volunteer Record-keeping Guidelines

No matter how small your part may seem in resettling your refugee, it is very important.  By carefully documenting your charitable actions, BRIDGE is able to show that refugees are not a burden on the government or society.  Below are listed some ways we account for the time, gifts, and money you have given to your refugee. Once all the effort has been accounted for, we must compile the information and report our findings to Department of Human Services (DHS) ) and Church World Service (CWS) or Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM.  Please help us by recording everything you do for your refugee.

CASH                         Every time you give cash (CASH) to your refugees or pay for something for them, record it.  Keep the receipt when possible.

PHONE                      Whenever you talk to anyone in reference to your refugee, write down approximately how long you talked (NO. OF HOURS) and word or two about the conversation (SERVICE RENDERED).

TRANSPOR-             Every time you give a ride to any refugee or go any place relating

TATION                  to your refugee, write down how far you went (MILEAGE), how long your trip took (NO. OF HOURS) and a few words about the purpose of your trip (SERVICE RENDERED).

DONATIONS            Any item that you give for the use of the refugee should be written down (DONATION).  This could include furniture, clothing, dishes, appliances, books, linens, food, medicines, toiletries, electrical equipment, cars or houses.

TIME                          Whenever you spend any time with any member of the refugee family, write down the length of the visit (NO. OF HOURS) and purpose behind it (SERVICE RENDERED).
