Projects

Assessment and Referral - Staff at the Behavioral Health Resource Center can answer questions or do a behavioral assessment and link you to other services and resources for your child. Staff can come to your home and can also observe your child at day care or school.

Health and Human Services Directory - This is a comprehensive Family Resource Guide for residents of Blount County and is available free of charge from the Behavioral Health Resource Center.

Ages and Stages Educational Booklet - This booklet provides information on growth and development of children ages 0-6. It also includes a "When to Seek Help" section and important phone numbers and is available free of charge from the Behavioral Health Resource Center.

Resource Library - Located at the Behavioral Health Resource Center, our library contains books for adults and children, videos, pamphlets, and other information on a variety of topics relating to young children. Materials in the library can be checked out free of charge by anyone in the community.

Community Behavior Screenings - We offer free behavior screenings in the community at health and parent fairs and children's events.

Educational Videos - We are currently producing a series of videos on topics related to early childhood development to be used by parents and educators. The first video will be on Choosing Quality Child Care and will be available in mid 2002.

The Happy & Healthy Birthday Project - We will provide a packet of information including a children's book to families of babies born at Blount Memorial Hospital Family Birthing Center. This project is a collaboration with Maryville Kiwanis, Blount Memorial Foundation and Blount County Schools. It is scheduled to begin in July of 2002.

Trainings and Community Forums - We provide and organize training and forums on topics relating to young children for child care professionals, parents and community members. If interested, please contact us.

Public Awareness - We raise public awareness about social-emotional development and behavioral health by speaking to civic groups and other community organizations. If interested, please contact us.
