". . . if you do it for the least of these, you do it for Me . . ."
Who is our Neighbor? The World Service Ministry Group would like to continue to challenge WPC in ways to keep our focus more world oriented. Although we have so many opportunities to challenge each of us in our individual journey of faith, in World Service we want to encourage each of us to look beyond -- in ways to share with those in real need. That is why we will soon be starting a program to help people with AIDS in Africa.
An effort is being organized through the Sunday School classes to make AIDS kits for home-based care. We would like to work with the Sunday School classes in order to teach our children the importance of sharing with others. The kits will be sent to Africa through our Presbytery. We would like to get together at least one or two kits. Each kit will supply the materials needed for a volunteer worker in Africa to provide support for ten families that are caring for a person suffering with AIDS. These volunteers are trained to care competently and compassionately for the families and, it is hoped, reduce the spread of the disease.
Each kit will include the following:
We will be asking for items from the adults in the church too -- those with or without kids! Please consider what you can contribute and start getting the item(s) together. Thank you!
