Magnus Kjellsonhas concertized extensively in Europe, but this appearance at Westminster was part of his first American tour. As an organist, he was educated at the School of Music at Göteborg University and at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, studying with Hans van Nieuwkoop, Jacques van Oortmerssen, and Hans Davidsson.

He currently serves as the organist of the Christinae Church in Göteborg, and since 1995 he has taught organ interpretation and liturgical organ at the School of Music in Göteborg. In addition, he frequently appears as a guest teacher at international academies and festivals.

Kjellson is also the founder, artistic director, and conductor of the Göteborg Baroque, a widely acclaimed ensemble of thirty musicians, including both singers and instrumentalists, that specializes in Swedish, German, and Italian seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music. Along with Musica Antiqua Köln and the King's Consort, it was a featured performing ensemble at the 2007 Buxtehude Jubileum festival in Lübeck commemorating the 300th anniversary of the composer's death.
