Caring Cooks

"Caring Cooks" help supplement neighborhood groups with food and/or meal preparation for our members during a special need or crisis such as serious illness or a death in the family. The Nurturing Committee obtained a small freezer to keep a modest number of home-prepared foods (soup, chili, casseroles, desserts, etc.). These prepared items can be used to supplement freshly made dishes to complete a meal for families during a time of need.

"Caring Cooks" are asked to help prepare meals or portions of meals on a rotating basis and are contacted as needs arise. From time to time some are asked through a phone call contact to prepare a dish for placement in the freezer to maintain our emergency stock.

Even if you aren't on our official "roster," keep the "Caring Cooks" freezer in mind as you make homemade soups, chili, spaghetti, etc., and think about making an additional amount to add to our supply. If you do, please label the container (1 to 4 servings) with the ingredients, any special instructions for defrosting or heating, and the date it is placed in the freezer. (Small to medium casseroles can also be added to the freezer.)

We think this is a good support ministry in conjunction with our Neighborhood Groups. Contact the Nurturing Committee if you would like to volunteer to help others in the future or if you are aware of a church member who could benefit from this type of helping ministry.
